Isn't that just the most brilliant version of Old Maid you've ever seen? I was tempted to put in a bid on it just for the chance to see which monsters were used (as well as who the "Old Maid" was supposed to be).
And now... some Monster Pins!

I just wish I had pictures of all the pins in this set -- there had to at least been a Dracula and Wolf Man pin, too... and maybe Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Creature!

They don't make 'em like this anymore, do they? Well, they probably do, and you can find them at Archie McPhee's, I'd guess.

Monster Rings? Those they definitely don't seem to make any more... at least, I don't see 'em offered in vending machines, nor have I seen them at the dollar stores. And yes, I have looked!

I don't know if this swamp monster mask is based on something from a movie I've never seen, but it looks awesome -- probably too awesome for any homemade costume you can put together to go with it, I'd guess!

If I had bid and won the auction for these monster t-shirt transfers, I would've so scanned them into my computer at 100% size, high res, and just printed additional copies to iron on to my t-shirts.

How come I never saw these rubber/plastic Universal Monsters figures for sale anywhere???

Same question on these... Although to be honest, they were probably too expensive for my budget at the time they came out (too bad there's no modern-day equivalent of AHI producing monster figures, eh?).

Jon, I like your blog.
You'll find hundreds of pics and all kinds of info on monster toys at the Yahoo group "Universal Monster Army".

I can help you get the rubber Universal Monsters if you want them. But many Walgreen's have them.
Like Max said, Walgreen's has them this year (I got mine at Toys R Us last year.) Walgreen's also has these little Universal Monster candles (they look like little busts) for pretty cheap and include Dracula, Frankenstein, The Bride, The Creature, The Wolfman, and the Mummy. They were going for 3/$2.
Thanks, Max and Shawn! I went to Walgreen's today and got a set of the rubber Universal Monsters... but I had no luck finding the Monster Candies, and I checked at two locations (in different cities)!

There's also a rubber witch from Imperial too (found at Kmart), it's made just like the Universal monsters but of course she's not Universal. She's pretty creepy looking and has red and white striped socks and an apple in her hand. Can't tell if it's supposed to be an Oz knock-off or something from Snow White but it's definitely more horror oriented than cutsie.
All right, next Halloween I'll have to check Kmart for monster goodies, too! Thanks for the tip!
