Coming Distractions... or, it's This 'n That Time Again!

A few things to mention in brief...

ITEM! In case you were starting to get concerned that, come early August, you wouldn't be able to get your daily dose of Random Acts of Geekery while the family and I are on vacation, fear not! Blogger's recently made some changes that will allow me to create blog entries in advance to be posted on a schedule! I've already taken advantage of this to create a few advance posts for the next two weeks.

ITEM! Emerald City Comic Con is coming up in Seattle the weekend after this, and the family and I plan to attend the first day. If you see us (we're kind of hard to miss, I'm 6' 6", and have been told I look like Clark Kent with my dark hair and glasses, Jessi's about a foot or so shorter, with blonde hair, and Tristan looks like Jay North as Dennis the Menace when he's in coveralls, but I'm hoping he'll wear one of his comics character shirts... he's almost four... and our foster daughter, D, is nine months old, and will likely be in a sling cuddling with Jessi as we walk around), feel free to stop us, and introduce yourself! Unfortunately, there'll be no trivia contest this year, but we hope to return next year!

ITEM! Just got an email from John Lustig, creator of the Last Kiss comics and webcomics, and it looks like I'll be doing a small transcription gig for him after the convention. Once the transcript is done, and the interview is posted on John's website, I'll provide a link for you to check it out!

ITEM! I haven't talked TV much at all... we've been enjoying the return of House (although after tonight's episode, there're only two more until September), and I'm starting to catch up on Smallville slowly but surely (if you're a fan of the show, I'm halfway through the ep where Kara gets her memory back, so yes, by the end of the week, I'll really be behind!). One show we've been watching lately is on The Learning Channel, called "Jon and Kate Plus 8," which is about this family in Pennsylvania who have eight kids - a set of twins who are about six or seven, plus sextuplets who are about Tristan's age! It's funny to watch, and whenever Jessi and I feel a bit overwhelmed about dealing with two kids, we just think about what Jon and Kate deal with daily! And yes, when we're back east in August, we'll be keeping our eyes open in case we happen to run into them!

ITEM! Getting back to Emerald City Comic Con, I am definitely bringing a camera with us, and hope to get some better photos than I got last year... if they come out, look forward to seeing them here!

ITEM! As of this point, I've pretty much put all buying of current comics on hold for the indefinite future. Between now and if I ever start buying new comics again, I'll keep up just through the comics websites I already check daily, as well as with trade paperbacks from the library. I've a feeling that perhaps I won't be buying new books again even if the budget loosens up again, but instead will start buying some of the Essentials and Showcase volumes.

ITEM! There are no more items!

I actually make rude comments during "Jon and Kate" all the time, then I realised it's jealousy that they seem better at handling 8 than I am with 2.

I know the feeling! And seeing Jon and Kate snip at each other makes me feel better about my own marriage, too! We're normal after all!
