Castle of Frankenstein #9, Part 9!

castlefrank09_58
And we're up to page 58, featuring the conclusion of the Victor Buono article and a rather kinky cartoon!

castlefrank09_59

Page 59's ad for the Frankenstein Chamber of Horrors is always fun to look at, isn't it?

castlefrank09_60

An amusing cartoon there on page 60, isn't it? This is another jump page from earlier in the mag, as you can see.

castlefrank09_63

I can't see how anyone with money to spend could've managed not to order something off of pages 61 through 63!

Page 64 and 65 are the Back Issue Department... I'm sure back then, these prices seemed expensive, but today, they'd be considered dirt cheap!

Another page of goodies advertised here on page 66...

And with the inside and outside back cover, that's a wrap! Wow, I guess next week's installment will start a new magazine!

Cool Stuff: Bullwinkle Stuff!

Let's see what kinds of Bullwinkle stuff I have for you this time around, eh?

bullwinkle_bank.JPG

Here's a nice figural bank... wish I had a bigger, sharper photo of it to share!

bullwinkle_bubblebath.JPG

I like this Bullwinkle figural bubble bath container, too!

bullwinkle_colorforms.jpg

If I liked to collect Colorforms stuff, I think I'd want this Bullwinkle set!

bullwinkle_puzzle

This Bullwinkle puzzle is a bit off-model, but still fun!

bullwinkle_puzzle60

This 1960 puzzle is delightfully off-model... reminds me of the Golden Books of the era, and I'm sure the same artists were involved!

bullwinkle_puzzle71

This 1971 puzzle seems to indicate that the colorist didn't know that Boris and Natasha should have white skin!

bullwinkle_sleepingbag

This sleeping bag is another Bullwinkle item I wish I had a larger, sharper photo of to share!

bullwinkle_truvue-rollashow

This Bullwinkle Tru-Vue Roll-A-Show is another example of movie viewers that used a cassette with a film loop!

bullwinkle_uke

I have no idea why someone thought a Bullwinkle ukelele was a good idea... well, maybe Bullwinkle played one in an episode?

Next time: Miscellaneous stuff!

Monster Mondays!

Time for the first Monster Mondays of 2009! We'll start off with some lobby cards from Blood of Dracula, which I have yet to see:

This one you can click for super-sizing!

bloodofdraculascastle_lc10.JPG
This one, too!

bloodofdracula_lc8.JPG

This is a Mexican lobby card for the movie!

Here's some stills:

bloodofdracula_still.jpg

bloodofdracula_still2.jpg

OK, enough Blood of Dracula!

brainthatwouldntdie_lc.jpg

One of these days, I've got to feature The Brain That Wouldn't Die as the Movie of the Week! That's a title card above...

brainthatwouldntdie_poster.jpg

There's the poster! By the way, that brain in a jar with an eye? Not in the movie.

brideandbeast_lc.JPG

I suspect that more money was spent printing Lobby Cards for The Bride and the Beast than was spent making the movie!

brideofthemonster_poster.jpg

Bride of the Monster is another cheapie Ed Wood movie... and I'm sure this poster had a bigger budget than most of Ed's films, too! Well, okay, maybe not...

And for the last item...

brideoffrank_64paperdoll1.JPG brideoffrank_64paperdoll2.JPG

This Bride of Frankenstein paper doll was produced in 1964... and I have to wonder if the designer at Filmation who designed Frankie for the Groovie Goolies ever saw this and was influenced by it!

By the 10's: Flash, Part 3!

flash210.jpg
Issue 210, and I'd say we're definitely in the Bronze Age, as things get a bit topsy-turvy in Barry's life!

flash220.jpg
Issue 220, with the most disturbing Flash cover, ever!

flash230.jpg
Issue 230 -- I used to have this comic!

flash240.jpg
Issue 240 - finally, we get a "Flash dying" cover... no wonder Barry bit it in Crisis!

flash250.jpg
Issue 250, with Captain Cold again! Man, not even a single Captain Boomerang cover so far!

flash260.jpg
Issue 260, a great grabber of a cover!

flash270.jpg
Flash 270, considered by some to be the beginning of the end! Be wary of status quo changes, my friends!

flash280.jpg
Issue 280!

flash290.jpg
Issue 290!

flash300.jpg
Issue 300!

flash310.jpg
Issue 310 - and there's Boomerang!

flash320.jpg
