Cool Stuff!

It's time for Cool Stuff!

electrawoman_game

First up is the Electrawoman and Dynagirl board game -- can't tell you anything you can't tell from the photo!

And now... Escape from the Planet of the Apes!

escapepota_ad.JPG

escapepota_italian.jpg

Above is an Italian poster for the film!

escapepota_japaneseprogram.JPG

Japanese program!

escapepota_newspaper.JPG

Yes, there was a "newspaper" promotional item for this movie, too -- they did it for all of them, and I'd love to have a complete set of these!

escapepota_poster.jpg

The classic poster here! And below, some stills:

And above is the UK poster! Hard to believe it was a year ago this month that I had Planet of the Apes Month here at the Random Acts of Geekery, isn't it? Maybe I should start a Planet of the Apes Blog sometime!

Next time around...

Fantastic Voyage! Above is a French film card for the movie, but there's much more to come next time around!

Random Videos of Geekery: Radar Men From the Moon, Chapter 1!

By the 10's: Little Lotta!

This time around, By the 10's looks at Harvey's Little Lotta, the big girl with the gigantic appetite and physical strength to match! Let's just see how many cover gags wouldn't fly in this day and age:

lotta010

Issue 10 -- Poor Dot, I wonder if she thought she was sharing that sandwich with Lotta!

lotta020

Issue 20 -- You may see this again in the Christmas Comics Countdown!

No cover scan for issue 30 around that I could find... same for issue 40, but...

lotta040_cover_kremler

Here's the original art for the cover of issue 40 -- and it's another skiing gag from Harvey!

lotta050

Issue 50 -- Lotta's using her powers to benefit others! Didn't they do some "Super Lotta" stories, now that I think of it?

No scan for issue 60 that I could find...

lotta070.jpg

Issue 70!

lotta080

Issue 80!

lotta090

Issue 90!

lotta100.jpg

Issue 100!

lotta110.jpg

Issue 110!

Yeah, it does get tiring when most of the gags are about Lotta's appetite, doesn't it? But that will wrap up this By the 10's! Next time around, it's Playful Little Audrey!

Children's Book Theatre: The Wolf Man, Part 3!

The Wolf Man has identified who he will attack next... Larry Talbot's Fiancee!

wolfman19

Yes, a short segment this time... but next, The Werewolf of London!

Famous Monsters #94, Part 1!

Time to check out a different monster mag!

fm094_001

This time around, it's Famous Monsters #94, the November, 1972 issue. The cover was painted by Sanjulian.

fm094_002

The inside front cover features this still from Frankenstein!

fm094_003

Page 3 features a short bit by Forry Ackerman teasing some of the stuff in the issue, accompanied by a photo of the man himself seeing how he looks in some prosthetic makeup!

fm094_004

Page 4 starts off the "Fang Mail", which means it's my chance to get some older monster movie fans who might be checking out Google to see what their name produces to look at this blog! Letters and and photos from Alan Kalivas, Terry WIlliams, Jaques Archanhault, Michelle Keenan, Joe Hammell, Fiona McQuarrie, Joseph Conciator, and Matthew Choate!

fm094_005

And page 5 -- the last page I'm featuring in this installment -- has the table of contents and masthead! Fabulous Flo Steinberg is listed as Marketing Director!

Next time: "Shock-A-Bye Baby!" a fright film list of horror flicks with shock and surprise endings!

Episode 64, part 1:

Episode 64, Part 2:

Episode 64, Part 3:

And that will do it for Thor!

Cool Stuff!

dcsh_quizwiz.JPG

I'm sure that if I knew that this cartridge for the Quiz Wiz existed, I would've bought a Quiz Wiz!

dcsh_records.jpg

That is one seriously cool bunch of records that were being offered in one single lot!

dcsh_sf_magnetictargetgame.jpg

I don't suppose any of you ever had the Superfriends Magnetic Target Game, and can tell me exactly how you were supposed to play it? Because it looks pretty lame to me...

dcsh_sf_recordplayer

Ah, the Super Heroes Record Player... featuring a Super Heroes logo in the exact same style as the Super Friends logo... was that license harder or more expensive to get than just a DC heroes license?

dcsh_sf_supermanpatch

You can't find embroidered Superman patches these days, it seems!

dcsh_sfshoes.jpg

Yes, it's really Super Friends shoes, I don't care what the box claims...

dcsh_sp_flashlight.JPG

And now we're on to Super Powers stuff! I have only seen this flashlight appear on eBay once, but if one shows up with a better picture, you can be sure I'll grab it!

dcsh_sp_game2.jpg

I'm pretty sure I already showed you photos of my copy of this game, but here's another photo from an auction that no doubt appeared before I got my copy!

dcsh_sp_supermanboots

Superman boots! Why don't they look like Superman's boots? I don't know.

dcsh_sp_toyfairbook.JPG

This brochure was given out at the first Toy Fair before the Super Powers line was released.

dcsh_stickons.JPG

Cool stickers! These were advertised in the DC Comics themselves!

And now, some Super Juniors:

dcsh_superjr_batman

dcsh_superjr_flash

dcsh_superjr_superman

dcsh_wfcostumepatterns

And the last item today, this pattern set for play costumes -- I have no idea why the Batman and Superman costumes feature shorts!

Next time: Electrawoman! Escape from the Planet of the Apes! And maybe, Fantastic Voyage!
